At DTA, we take the time to know each student and provide the support or challenge needed to keep growing.

A student may need focused support in one subject while being ready to move ahead in another. That same child may discover a new strength through robotics, physical education, or a hands-on science project.

Academic Support & Resource Room

Focused instruction based on what each student needs next.

Teachers consider classwork, projects, participation, formal assessments, and a student’s ability to apply skills independently. MAP Growth provides outside data, while DTA assessments and middle school semester exams measure the curriculum taught in our classrooms. IXL and ALEKS offer additional practice and information about specific skills.

Together, these measures help teachers understand what a student knows, where support may be needed, and what should come next.

CIJE STEAM

Hands-on science and engineering from elementary through middle school.

Through CIJE STEAM, students learn science by working directly with ideas and materials. The elementary curriculum is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards and includes Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. In middle school, students take on engineering challenges and experiments that connect scientific concepts to real applications.

Students observe, test, build, and revise. When an idea does not work, they examine what happened and try a different approach. That process develops scientific understanding, problem-solving, and perseverance.

Robotics

Building, programming, and learning through trial and error.

Robotics begins in sixth grade. Students work with engineering and programming concepts as they design and improve their robots. They learn how mechanical choices affect performance, how a program controls movement, and how to troubleshoot until they reach a workable solution.

CIJE robotics gives students opportunities to build and program robots around practical challenges, with programming available for upper elementary and middle school grades.

Artificial Intelligence Programming

Preparing students to understand the technology shaping their world.

Age-appropriate AI programming introduces students to emerging technology through practical learning. Students explore how AI tools work and how they can support research, creation, and problem-solving. They are also taught to think carefully about accuracy and responsible use.

Technology is important. So is the judgment of the person using it.

Financial Literacy

Connecting classroom learning to real financial decisions and careers.

Middle school students learn about budgeting, investing, risk, and long-term planning. They build a sample stock portfolio and follow selected companies throughout the year. Changes in stock prices and current market events become part of the discussion, helping students see how investments respond to decisions and events in the wider economy.

The course also brings working professionals into the classroom. Students hear from people in real estate, the restaurant industry, medicine, and other fields. These conversations give students a clearer picture of how businesses operate, how career paths develop, and what it takes to build something successfully.

Physical Education

Movement, teamwork, and healthy habits.

Physical education gives students regular opportunities to be active, develop coordination, participate responsibly on a team, follow rules, and continue working when a skill takes time. Movement also gives students a chance to reset and return to the classroom ready to learn.
